In myths and stories, the magerath were said to be the first inhabitants of Earth, a race who occupied it long before humans. They built Gateways, transports from their world to Earth, in areas of strong spiritual energy, 'leylines.' As the humans came to exist, the magerath blended into society. In later centuries the humans encountered the magerath. Witch burnings and executions ensued.
As their presence faded, the magerath fled or blended, and the leaders of the killings and revolts ceased their crusades, the presence of the magerath was all but forgotten, save in legends and myths.
Centuries later, after countless advancements and losses, humanity began to colonize space and terraform planets they deemed suitable for their growing population, a "Great Migration." Just when humanity had seen a bit of peace they made contact with a familiar race: the magerath, prideful and exotic people of the planet Xel Kyan. The Earthlings saw this as an opportunity: a chance to recreate themselves. To redeem their Earth from the dust ball it had become and reverse their mistakes. The magerath had appeared from their home to avenge their ancestors in the form of nothing short of a crusade.
War ignited. People chose sides, alliances. This continued for fifteen years.
Nautilus, a military corporation of growing proportions, ceased the conflicts. A lull of peace fell upon the universe--but not for all. In this period, the Republic, an interstellar government, and the Alliance, a ring of opposed factions and rebels, was born.
Present day, 2385: Earth is all but a wasteland. New planets and races have been discovered. Humans are not the only intelligent race. Bitterness still lies between the humans and magerath. The half-bloods remain to be persecuted against, though with subtler means. Corruption lies within the Republic. The Alliance is becoming more apparent. The supernatural and unexplainable entwines with life. The Mageran Empire faces conflict within its Houses and violence veiled behind a guise of secrecy.
The horizons have expanded. Those that live scratch out an existence however they can, rich, poor, middle-classed. But most of all-- they live.

Introductions
First and foremost, welcome to Infinite Horizons, an imaginative fictional world that I've found to be great fun to get lost in. This work is a guide to help anyone who is confused by either the basics, the more advanced stuff, or general help with some frequently asked questions.
I'm NecroFusion, Infinite Horizon's Plot Guide, the guy you can come to for help with any ideas for your posts, plots, and so on. While the mods and admin can help with that, too, they tend to also be doing a lot of other things, so it's suggested to come to me first before coming to them for help with specific roleplay-related questions.
Also, I'm pretty knowledgeable when it comes to Infinite Horizons, so I can usually give you an answer quickly when I am online. It's quite a good reason for IH, our beloved admin, to hand this duty to me.
I'll admit, I used to be pretty horrible when it came to actual roleplaying, but I was still accepted here like anyone else. I could spell, make sentences, and I had an imagination, that's all it took. From there, things just went up. The more I roleplayed, the more questions I asked, the better I got, and pretty soon this fun activity I learned became helpful for school and actual life. Go figure.
Same thing can happen to anyone looking to get better with their writing. Just like playing an instrument or smacking people down (Not really), it takes simple practice. Continue on, fair reader, and everything will start to make sense.

What Is A Roleplay?
By definition:
1. To assume the attitudes, actions, and discourse of (another), esp. in a make-believe situation in an effort to understand a differing point of view or social interaction: Management trainees were given a chance to role-play labor negotiators. 2. To experiment with or experience (a situation or viewpoint) by playing a role: trainees role-playing management positions.
My Definition:
To live another life as another persona unlike your own, or like your own. A game made up of solely player choice, action, and imagination. A mini-Novel penned by multiple writers in a fury of quick thinking and storytelling.
Pretty simple, eh? Now let's show the necessities.
Tools Of The Trade
Imagination
Creativity
Language
A Character
Simple, except maybe the last one... Shall we venture there, even?
Small tip, this is going to be your new best friend throughout this. Keep this open during the entire process of creating your new character. You'll also want to keep Character Creation and Guidelines open while creating your character.
To begin, click on Races in the sidebar to your left. Read them, see what you like, for this is maybe the largest part of your character.
Next, read over the Professions . This is the main way of your character making credits for themselves.
There, your basics. Fill in most of the missing information BUT the stats, skills, and equipment. You're crafting everything your character is and has been from their birth to the present.
The skills determine many things your characters can do, cannot do, and can do well. If you need to, follow the general feel of the race you selected, but feel free to break the stereotype.
Then the stats. You are not allowed to have some high and mighty god of a character. Be fair, but do have fun with it, and please be fair with your choices.
Judging by your class, you should know what you'd want for them. List them in the Equipment section on the character sheet. As it says, feel free to make any items, just have them checked with the Admin, and hey, if she likes them enough, IH has a whole new item to use.
The items you choose at character creation IH will send to you from her account.
Looking for your character to have a personal craft or bigger ship? Look no further than Ships and Vehicles for anything you'd ever want to know.
You don't need to spend your Credits on the starting equipment, vehicle, or ship, but anything after creation and upgrades, yes.
Finally finished your character? Hosted them on a character account? Congrats! onto the actual roleplaying now.

Your First Roleplay
Hopefully you've taken the time to register a character account and create a character, and you may be wondering... how do I get started?
The first thing to do is visit the Out of Character forum and introduce yourself. If you'd rather not expose yourself to the entire RPG just yet, that's perfectly reasonable.
First roleplays are typically more effective when they address basic character details. For example:
What are his/her goals? ambitions?
Where did he/she come from?
What was his/her past like?
Finally, it's always beneficial to read-- read the forums, the roleplays, the Compendium, the out of character forums. It can never hurt. Read as much as you can handle, have time for, or can stand. This not only immerses you in the setting, but it may inspire plot, character, or storyline ideas.
